Honky Tonker Jason L Green Charts Platinum Plus Universal Radio Release In Billboard Magazine
Hollywood . Nashville . New York (PRWeb) December 11, 2006 -- Jason Green is one of a very few artists in country music history that have earned the title, "Honky Tonker." That's a hard name to earn in the music business. Jason Green, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Gretchen Wilson have all earned that name for their hard driving genre of country music that leaves the ballads and slow songs on the back side of the record. These artists release the up tempo, type of feel good music when you need a song to perk up your whole attitude and make a big difference in the feelings you have for a world saturated with computers, cell phones, and pagers. "Jason Green just makes you feel good all over, through and through. His music makes you want to drive a fast car, drink a margarita, and dance in a country bar," says George Harris Sr. Music Editor for go.com the Disney Music Channel.
CDX 408 features the current group of Honky Tonkers in country music like the graduating class for the 2007 CRB radio seminar. Jason Green, Gary Allan, Jimmy Buffett, Gretchen Wilson and John Rich, Lee Ann Womack, George Jones & Merle Haggard are joined by the Blytheville, Arkansas native in an all out assault on radio stations that love to play up tempo honky tonk music during drive time. "Rock In My Cowboy Boots," which debuted in the Billboard charts just before the freeze for Christmas music is worth the time and effort to the country music audience. The song debuted #1 in most college markets and has already topped the Billboard Top 150 radio survey after just a few weeks of airplay. After years of working hard, it would appear that Jason Green belongs to that country club of artists that have the same flair for an up tempo song as Mickey Gilley and Jerry Lee Lewis.
While the average "master scale" album costs well in excess of $155,000 to just get started at a label in Music City, Jason brought his music and career to music row just two years ago and sat down and counseled with MCA Universal producer Robert Metzgar about the future of his plans as an artist to record an album, make a video, and get launched into the country music business. "I have been interested in a music career all my life," Green told the white haired 30 year veteran of country music. Metzgar is a veteran hit maker having developed some of the biggest acts in country music in his career. "However, without great songs, no one is going to care about my career," Green said. So, the song search for hit material began and after a year of recording and working through over a couple hundred songs, the album came together in 2006 with hard driving, southern rock, and honky tonk country music in mind. Green who credits his love of country music to George Strait, Hank Williams, Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd and Grand Ole Opry star John Conlee began with an appearance at Fan Fair 2005 next to the Grand Ole Opry at the Gibson Showcase Theater. "Fan Fair 2005 was breath taking for me," Green says.
Jason Green recorded his first session of songs at the world famous, Chelsea Studios in Nashville where so many famous names in the music business got their start, including Alan Jackson, Shania Twain and Tom T. Hall. His first recording session featured such famous players as Tony Migliore, Rob Hajacos, Jerry Kroon, Sonny Garrish, Jimmy Carter, Pete Bordonali and others. The session reminded him of the Sun Records sessions in Memphis during a time when Honky Tonkers were the kings and legends of the music business. "My parents Dorothy and Leon Green were both born and raised in Blytheville, Arkansas. My dad's family is rather large with 13 brothers and sisters. I have one loving sister Tina Marie who has four sons. My sister's boys are Ryan, Christopher, Austin, and Michael. Jason is married to his beautiful and talented wife Jessica and they have a pug called "Gizmo" that they love like their own child.
Obtaining the right songs from the right people is a must in the music business. Green was able to get songs from the Warner Brothers writing team of Gretchen Wilson and John Rich, DeWayne Blackwell & Bud Lee (Friends In Low Places) and Tom Shapiro (SONY/ATV Music) for his first sessions with some of Nashville's most famous musicians. "It's all about the song in the city of Nashville," Green says. I have admired Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, and Kenny Chesney for their ability to get the right songs and get them out at the right time. I feel like the songs on my album are some of the greatest songs I've ever heard in country music. The writers worked very hard to get the type of song that I like to sing as an artist and my producer, Robert Metzgar took a lot of time to pick the right songs for the album. " I went through several hundred songs before I got comfortable with the songs that are on my album."
Green's co-producers and surrounding entourage of people who have assisted him in the project is like the Who's Who of the music business. Platinum Plus Universal (www.platinumplusuniversal.com) is one of the largest development labels in the world and also boasts some of the most successful artists in the country music business. Green's album is in stores now and is distributed nationally by the big four, Select-O-Hits, Trans World Entertainment, Handleman, and Anderson. Sales of the new album have taken off with a new year of touring and radio station promos ahead.
"I work in a steel mill. My goals are to move forward with my music and be everything that I can be to my fans. I played Fan Fair 2006 at B B Kings downtown and I am working to establish myself as one of the few Honky Tonkers in this business. There are a lot of people who can sing, but very few who know what a Honky Tonk is all about. When you work in a steel mill, you just won't be happy until you are doing the one thing that you love the most, and that's singing full time with my band. We're working all the time now opening for Trent Tomlinson, Toby Keith and others. One day I want to be the headliner myself. Green is certainly well on his way to superstardom in the genre he loves the most. This honky tonking man of mine is a sight to see in concert.," his wife Jessica explains.
