Jake Records Launches Online Radio Station

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) September 26, 2008 -- Jake Records (http://www.jakerecords.com), a leading independent record label, today announced the launch of Jake Radio, a one-of-a-kind online radio station dedicated to highlighting the label's growing roster of artists. The Internet radio station will be programmed to present a balance between well-known top-charting artists from the major labels, and the artists signed to Jake Records. "Jake Radio will be an online destination where new music discovery takes on a whole new meaning," said the company's Founder and CEO Scott Thomas.

Songs on Jake Radio (http://www.jakeradio.com) are often introduced by the label's artists, a presentation that showcases their unique personalities. The station will also feature music from friends of the label, and plans to include hour-long specials where Jake Records artists will be allowed to play their favorite songs, talk about their musical influences, and share music from their albums. "We hope that this puts our artists in a whole new light, by giving them a chance to express their music and their personalities to a growing audience of online listeners," Thomas said.

The company plans to market the online radio station separately from the label, in the hopes of drawing in new fans for the artists and their music. "Being in the music business is ultimately about entertaining people," said Dan Diaz, the label's VP/Artist Relations. "With the introduction of Jake Radio we're not only are we entertaining people with the music from our label, but we're presenting it with today's hottest major label acts as well. This is a unique entertainment option that has never been done before," he added.

The stream, which launched in a beta phase in early August, has already had thousands of unique tune-ins and boasts a longer than average TTSL (Total Time Spent Listening) per tune-in. The station operates on the Shoutcast platform which is compatible with popular programs like WinAmp, iTunes, and RealPlayer.

Jake Radio can be found online at www.jakeradio.com and www.myspace.com/officialjakeradio and is scheduled to be listed in the iTunes directory of online radio stations.
