BreakThru Radio Offers Special Three in One Record Label Showcase

The show, titled "Carpark-Paw Tracks-Acute Records Showcase," is a special treat for BTR listeners, as it focuses on music from three different record labels that are brand new to the BTR catalogue: Carpark, Paw Tracks, and Acute. The "Carpark-Paw Tracks-Acute Records Showcase" is the latest installment in the station's impressive series of record label specialty shows.

Carpark Records was started by Todd Hyman in 1999. The label is renowned for their electronic music catalog and recently released material from key Baltimore experimental artists. Artists that call Carpark their home include Beach House, Dan Deacon, and Montag. Hyman and Dan Seltzer co-founded post-punk reissue label Acute Records in 2002. Acute reissues many lost gems from both edges of the late 70s/early 80s punk movement. Acute artists include Glenn Branca and Metal Urbain. In 2003, Hyman joined forces with the group Animal Collective to jump start Paw Tracks. In addition to Animal Collective, Paw Tracks also has such great acts as Ariel Pink, Panda Bear, and First Nation.

"I was psyched to have the chance to put this showcase together," says The Surgeon General, who is also the host of BTR's fringe show, Double Lock Your Mind. "Carpark, Acute, and Paw Tracks are all great labels with distinct sounds, so there was plenty to choose from."
