Unique New Bhangra Show Airing Only on BreakThru Radio
NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) May 7, 2007 -- BreakThru Radio (BTR), the Internet's source for the World's Best Independent Music, announces the world premiere of a brand new specialty show, called "The Bhangra Show." This extremely unique new show is produced by the Urban Umpires and offers listeners the opportunity to hear great music from a generally unknown genre: bhangra. Bhangra is a type of popular dance music that combines Punjabi folk traditions with Western pop music, fusing traditional drum-based music with elements of reggae, hip-hop, rock, soul, and dance. "The Bhangra Show" is the latest installment in the station's successful series of specialty shows. This unconventional show can be found only on www.breakthruradio.com.
"The Bhangra Show," was created by the Urban Umpires to give BTR listeners a rare chance to hear an eclectic mix of music that they would not have the opportunity to hear on mainstream radio. The playlist includes songs from DJ Amit, Bally Sagoo, Javed Ali, and Desi Sound, as well as many other talented Bhangra artists. A new edition of "The Bhangra Show" will air on BTR every Saturday, hosted by a series of rotating DJ's. The first episode features guest host DJ Ras Cue. Future episodes will include the musical indulgences of guest hosts such as DJ Madison, DJ Marcella, DJ Maneesh, and DJ Miss.
"Having a show that plays all bhangra music really pushes the envelope as far as urban shows go," shares DJ Just Jay of the Urban Umpires producing crew. "We're touching on a whole other region of the world, a whole other culture. Having a set of rotating DJ's allows fans to experience bhangra from each DJ's perspective."
With the addition of "The Bhangra Show," BTR further fulfills its goal of offering listeners complete on-demand, free programming that caters to whatever music niche their taste lies in. Other BTR specialty shows include a folk show, a blues show, a heavy metal show, a dance music show and a hip-hop show.
"The Bhangra Show" kicked off on Saturday (May 5) on BTR and will be available in the station's archive and program guide, along with all of BTR's previous specialty programs. Listeners can tune in to hear guest host DJ Ras Cue's picks by visiting www.breakthruradio.com.
